Are All Stars Very Big?

Most stars in the universe are bigger than the sun, and some are even bigger than the entire solar system. But not all stars are as big as the sun, or even as big as the earth.

The smallest kind of star, called a white dwarf, may be only about a thousand miles in diameter, less than half the size of the moon.

And certain kinds of burnt-out stars may be only ten or 20 miles across.
