How Fast Does Your Hair Grow?

The hair on your head grows about half an inch each month. Even when your body stops growing taller, your hair will still keep growing. Hair grows faster in summer than in winter, and faster during the day than at night.

When each strand, or shaft, of hair reaches a certain length, it stops growing for it becomes too long to be properly nourished. It then falls out, but a new hair replaces it. This can take from 2 to 6 years for the hair on your head, and only 3 to 5 months for shorter hair, such as on your eyelashes and eyebrows.

When a person's hair falls out and new hairs do not grow as replacements, that person becomes bald.

If a rope were made out of strands of long hair, it would be strong enough to lift an automobile!
