Sugar: Is the Calcium extracted during it's production? Does constant heating of the natural syrup extract the calcium and leave the crystal 'wanting' to reattach itself to form of calcium when ingested by humans?

Powdered lime is added to the juice. Dissolved in the juice, it binds with impurities and settles out mud & other impurities. The lime does not remain in the juice, but stays attached to the impurities.

Other chemicals used are dextranase to reduce the amount of dextran in the raw sugar and chlorine to sanitize the mill.
