How Many People Live in India?
After China, India is the second most populous country on earth.
In the 1980s, India had a population of more than 650 million. That’s equal to about 16 percent of all the people on earth! According to current figures, it’s been estimated that in the year 2008, India had a population of about 1.13 Billion people!
The “subcontinent” of India also includes the nations of Pakistan and Bangladesh. These two nations and India had a combined population of 811 million.
In the year 2008, the population of these three nations has reached almost 2 billion! That’s greater than the expected population of any nation on earth.
