Each time you take a breath, you breathe in about one pint of air. A standing or sitting adult takes from 16 to 20 breaths a minute, but an adult lying down may take only 13.
And a child may take 35 breaths per minute. On the average, a person takes about 22,000 breaths each day. That means you probably inhale more than 11,000 quarts of air each day!
A person breathes in more than 288 million pints of air in an average lifetime!
