How Sensitive is a Cat’s Sense of Hearing and Why Do Cats Sometimes Seem So Psychotic?

Cats can sometimes seem very psychotic, sensing things that are not there.

cats have a very sensitive sense of hearing

Their psychotic behavior is more likely because cats have excellent hearing and can detect an extremely broad range of frequencies.

The highest frequency people can hear is in the low 20,000 vibrations per second. Cats can hear frequencies as high as 70,000.

Cats can hear higher-pitched sounds than either dogs or humans, and their sense of hearing is among the best of any mammal.

Cats do not use this super hearing ability to hear ultrasound for communication but it is instead used for hunting, since many species of rodents make ultrasonic calls.

They also have ears that move independently to help them pick out the exact location of sounds, the better for them to track them little mice, or a can opener being operated somewhere in the distance.

Psychotic or Catatonic.

Do all continents have wild cats?

No. Australia and Antarctica have none.
