Is a Sweet Potato the Same As a Yam?
Though Americans often call a sweet potato a yam, the two vegetables are not the same.
Sweet potatoes are grown in the United States and in many other countries. But a real yam grows only in the tropical regions of Africa, and is almost never seen in America.
