What Does a Muscle Have To Do with a Mouse?
When the ancient Greeks watched athletes competing in sports events, they thought the rippling motions of a man’s muscles looked like a little mouse running up and down under his skin.
This idea was passed on to the ancient Romans, who coined the word musculus, “little mouse.”
This word eventually became our word muscle!
