The dog’s wet nose is relatively misunderstood by many pet owners.
A dog with a wet nose is not an invariable indicator of health, good or bad.
It is normal for a dog to drain some fluid out of the nose, and the nose may be wet and cold because of evaporation.
And it is true that a dog with a high fever may have a dry, warm nose.
However, many factors, especially the environmental temperature, may also cause a healthy dog to have a warm and/or dry nose.
Just feeling the dog’s nose is no substitute for taking the temperature and a medical examination at a vet.
