You usually have your meals at the same time each day. Your stomach becomes accustomed to this schedule and produces its acids and enzymes with a churning activity according to that schedule.
With no food going into your stomach to absorb these juices produced by the peristaltic waves, it “talks,” or “gurgles,” or “rumbles.”
