The coos come in a series of six or eight with each dropping a little in pitch like a soprano doing warm-up exercises.

Part of the cuckoo family of birds, the roadrunner gets its name because, although it flies when necessary, it usually gets around by walking and running, as fast as 18 miles per hour.

Roadrunners are commonly solitary birds or live in pairs, and typically eat insects such as grasshoppers, crickets, small reptiles such as lizards and snakes, rodents and small mammals.
