Where dies the term “Fetlock” come from and What does Fetlock mean?

Sorry, but maybe it would be best to slide over the word fetlock.

It is the tuft or lock of hair that grows at the back of the pastern joint of the leg of a horse, or the part of the leg where this lock grows, but the word experts of our language have been able to do little more than make a wild stab at any early meaning of fet.

Some think that it may have been a dialectical form of “foot,” but others do not agree with this notion.
