Who Was the Tallest Man Who Ever Lived?
There have been many claims about men who were more than eight feet tall, but very few of them are true. The tallest man who was ever reliably measured was Robert Wadlow, who was born in Illinois in 1918.
By the age of five, he stood over 5 feet tall and at ten, he was almost 6 1/2 feet. By the time he was 18, he stood 8 feet, 3 1/2 inches, and when he died in 1940, he was measured at more than 8 feet, 11 inches!
Wadlow’s shoes were 18 1/2 inches long, and his hands were almost 13 inches, from the wrist to his fingertips. And he was still growing when he died, at the age of just 22!
The tallest woman who ever lived was 7 feet, 7 inches tall!
