Why Do You Dream?

Most dreams are based on events that happened to you that day. Others involve deep fears you might have had since you were very young. In still others, wishes you've had for a long time are granted in your dreams. Sometimes, these are wishes you didn't even know you had.

As you dream, you are "watching" and sometimes even "hearing" a story unfold. Sometimes it involves only other people, and sometimes you take part in it as well. Some dreams are pleasant, while others, called nightmares, are frightening. Sometimes you remember your dreams, and sometimes you do not.

During an 8-hour sleep, most people have from three to five dreams, each lasting from 10 to 30 minutes, and they're in color!
