Why isn’t Cod-liver oil used as supplements for vitamins A and D anymore?

Both shark oil and cod-liver oil were once very commonly used as supplements for vitamins A and D.

However, in the 1940s scientists figured out how to cheaply manufacture the vitamins, saving generations of kids from spoonfuls of the fishy, slimy swill.

These days, the dietary supplement in vogue is fish oils. Omega-3 and Omega-6 supplements can be found at your favorite local health food store, and are really good for you. Especially your brain.

Although they can taste fishy, they’re not nearly as bad as Cod-liver oil and are available in capsules.
