Does the Law Require That an Employer Provide an Employee With a Reason for Termination?

Unless the employee is under a union or employment contract that requires a reason for termination, employers are not required to provide a reason to terminate an at will employee.

Many times the employee is told why he or she was fired when the employee files for unemployment benefits or when the employee brings a discrimination suit against the employer. And even then the reason that the employer offers may not be the complete truth
