The last 3 million years have been filled with different ice ages and periods of warming.
What we call the Great Ice Age began some 100,000 years ago and reached its peak about 18,000 years ago.
During this time, great sheets of ice covered much of Earth’s land. This caused great migrations of living creatures as they moved ahead of the glaciers in search of warmer climates.
