According to the Guinness Book of World Records, at last reckoning the best trainspotter is Bill Curtis of Clacton-on-Sea, England.
Curtis has spotted about “60,000 locomotives, 11,200 electric units, and 8,300 diesel units” during trackside vigils in several countries over the last 40 years.
